British Virgin Islands Aug 2019

we chartered a new Lagoon 450 F out of the DYC base on Scrub Island in the BVI and sailed around an incredible part of the world with white sandy beaches, sunken wrecks, teeming fish and coral reefs. Gui and Juliana brought Julia who is close to 2 years old and kept us endlessly entertained. Anisa's dear friends from Yale, Alisha and Emily were able to join us as well, and all eight of us made a great crew. the day we left reports of an approaching tropical storm were causing cancellation of all charters so we made it back in the nick of time.

We started at Scrub Island, went to the Baths (1) and moored near Spanish Town. The next day we went to the North Sound on Virgin Gorda (2) and moored at Levrick Bay. The third day we sailed for Anegada (3) and moored there overnight. We had to bypass Brewers Bay(4) and go on to Can Garden Bay (5) which was an incredibly charming spot with steep hills coming down to the sea. The next morning we departed for Jost Van Dyke for lunch and play at the Soggy Dollar and then motored to Norman Island and moored next to the Willy T(7). The last day we departed snorkeled the Caves (7) and spent the afternoon at Salt Island (8) at the wreck of the Rhone before heading back to base.

Julia was happy little kid around the boat unless we kept her way past her bedtime! She loved sitting by me at the helm and trying to steer the boat.

Gui joins the fun
We moored at the Bitter End Yacht Club in the North Sound at Virgin Gorda. The resort is closed and under repair so we only swam around and snorkeled and then moved to Leverick Bay.
The snorkelers had fun and saw lots of fish.
