Dog Lake

We hiked up to Dog Lake. About 6 miles and 1300 ft of elevation gain to about 9000 feet. IT was October but there was already snow on the ground. It was a very easy gradient and Shadow loved the hike. The only sad part was that came across a coupleand two dogs heading down with the guy carrying another limp dog on his shoulders. When we asked him if everything was OK, the woman sobbed and said he had been impaled. So sad. We kept replaying in our mind what kind of accident would have caused it. There were plenty of off trail sections that would have been dangerous.
