Girl Scouts at Camp Mosey Wood

Anisa and her Girl Scout Troop went to Camp Mosey Woods in the Poconos for two days. They did archery, rowing, arts and craft and a bonfire. Karen Fortune, the troop leader, got everything arranged and with two other parents (Kathy Douglas and I), we set off with six girls. We had Michelle join us the next day with two more girls. The Camp was awesome with tents set up on a fantastic wooden deck. There was even a shower house with all the amenities, bonfire pits, a dining hall and a lake. The weather could have been a little better in evenings when it invariably rained and the temperature was bone chilling, but we it kept the bugs away. It was totally fun!

We arrived at the camp late at night and found very nice tents pitched on an elevated deck. This spot was set apart from the rest other sites and we had it all to ourselves. Anisa, Annie and I shared this tent. Annie is already in her mummy sleeping bag rated to -400 deg. She sure kept herself warm which we were ver jealous off at 3 o' clock in the morning when the weather turned frigid!

  • Our cot configuration, which of course the girls had to completely rearrange.
  • The next morning, the car windows became mirrors for getting the hair brushed. The tents in the background were the same layout as ours and were unoccupied.
  • The troop in the dining hall. One person was designated the "Hopper" and brought the food out.
  • So happy to get breakfast on Saturday moning.
  • Kathy and Alice listening to the archery instructions.
  • The archery instructor. The noise in the dining room was deafening so we could not really hear anything besides "don't point it at anyone".
  • Logan, Alice and Kathy waiting for the targets to go up.
  • Marteen and Karen sharing a mother-daughter moment.
  • Our troop is ready to shoot arrows.
  • Sarah testing her drawstring.
  • Getting preliminary instructions.
  • Nocking in the arrow.
  • Loaded.
  • Ready to shoot.
  • Alice releases an arrow.
  • Anisa's arrow flies off. You can see where it hit the screen to the left of the target.
  • Group two is ready.
  • If I was the old man, I would not be standing in front.
  • Ready to release.
